Transforming a social project into an income-generating business
THE CHALLENGE
The use of traditional fuels and poor quality equipment for cooking and lighting has dramatic socio-economic, health and environmental consequences. The poorest spend 25% of their budget on it. Harmful fumes kill as many people as AIDS and malaria combined. Entrepreneurs DU Monde created the MIVO Energy project to make modern equipment accessible: solar lamps, gas stoves and improved fuel-efficient stoves. Created as a social project, Entrepreneurs du Monde wanted to make MIVO Energie a social enterprise with a balanced economic model.
OUR SOLUTION
Local production of products at an affordable final cost, the establishment of a distribution network via individual resellers on the markets, adapted financial solutions.
